Why Lovable launches fail after the first share
The build looks done in the chat. Then a friend opens the custom domain, login 404s, Stripe says paid, the feature stays locked, and the OG card is the Lovable placeholder. That week is most of r/lovable.
This checklist is the list those threads keep repeating. It is not official Lovable documentation. Check the items that apply to your v1. Progress stays in this browser.
What “ready” actually means
- Blocker: do this before you take money, emails or a public bio link.
- Should: do this before you spend on ads or Product Hunt.
- Nice: polish that can wait a day, not a week.
A landing page does not need Stripe webhooks. A web app with auth does. Use the filters so you are not checking fiction.
The usual miss, in order
Auth breaks on the real domain
Preview login works because Supabase already allows *.lovable.app. Your domain is a new origin. Add it to redirect URLs and to the OAuth provider before you tweet the link.
Stripe charges and the UI stays locked
Checkout is a redirect. Unlocking is a webhook plus a row in your database. Test the refresh, not the success page.
Keys and tables are public
The frontend is public. Run the security checker on the production URL and turn RLS on for every table with a user id.
The share card still says Lovable
Default titles and missing images are how the first Slack share dies. Use the SEO checker and the Open Graph preview.
Frequently asked questions
What should I check before launching a Lovable app?
Happy path, auth redirects, RLS, leaked keys, title and OG image, custom domain, privacy policy, and a real phone. Preview URLs are not a launch.
Do I need a custom domain?
If you want it to look finished, yes. Custom domains need Lovable Pro. Keep the preview URL for you, not for users.
What is the most common launch bug?
Auth and Stripe. Redirect URLs that still point at preview, and webhooks that never hit production.
Does this checklist save my progress?
Yes, in this browser. Nothing is posted to our servers. Reset clears the checks on this device.
